Getting Started
How It Works
Pick Your Faction
Create a free Gudnak ID and pledge allegiance to one of seven factions. Choose wisely. Or don't — we're not your dad.
Find or Create an Event
Events can happen anywhere, but you earn more points if they happen in store. Check the store map for a shop near you that will deal with you and your Gudnak-lovin' friends.
Play Events, Earn Shard Points
Show up. Play 'Nak and earn points for every single game you play. Your 0-3 Tuesday night matters. We promise.
Redeem those Points
Cash in Shard Points for exclusive promos and alt-art. Watch your faction rise on the global leaderboard. Brag accordingly!
Choose Your Side
Pick Your Faction
This is your team for the season. Your people. The ones you'll fight for on the global leaderboard and defend in Discord arguments at 1am. There are no wrong answers. There is however, one wrong answer. That answer is Gloaming.
The Refractory
Stubborn, resilient, and annoyingly hard to kill. If you've ever won a game by simply refusing to lose, this is your faction.
The Shardsworn Alliance
United by duty, held together by duct tape and optimism. They believe in the power of working together. It's very cute. It also works.
The Gloaming
Creepy, clever, and way too comfortable in the dark. They win games you thought you were winning. Check under your bed.
Delguon
Big Demons Energy. Delguon players don't do "subtle."
Auroxi
Elegant, calculated, and deeply smug about it. If you enjoy winning with a plan you drafted three turns ago, welcome home.
Rotborn
Death is a resource, not a setback. Rotborn players recycle everything — cards, creatures, your will to live. Very sustainable.
Marvorren
Full hearts, full moon, can't lose. When the moon is bright the time is right to sing your enemies to death. At least they'll (probably) have fun dying.
Your Gudnak ID
Your Gudnak ID
It's free, takes 30 seconds, and makes you look like you know what you're doing at events.
What it shows
Your username, faction, Shard Points, season rank, and badges. It's basically a baseball card for someone who plays a square based tactical card game at a hobby shop on Thursday nights.
How it works
Show up to an event. The organizer scans your QR code. You will get points for attending and your life will change for the better. No writing your name on paper like it's 2007.
That's it
Pull it up on your phone. Flash the QR. Play some Nak. It's genuinely that simple.
Got Questions?
FAQ
Do I need to own the game to participate?
Nope. Most stores have demo decks and loaner decks available for events. Just show up with your Gudnak ID and a willingness to learn. Owning cards helps if you want to build your own deck, but it's not required to start.
What if there's no Store near me?
First, check the store map — we're adding new stores regularly. If your area's a dead zone, you can still earn Shard Points at conventions and online events. You can also ask your local game shop to apply to become a Founding Store. We'll send them the pitch. It's very compelling. (We wrote it.)
What is a Founding Store?
To reward them for joining the Gudnak Organized Play program early, we gave the first 100 stores "Founding Store" status. All events played there earn extra points for everyone involved.
Can I switch factions mid-season?
No. You picked your faction. You're stuck with them. That's what makes it mean something. If you want to try a different faction's cards, go for it — your deck doesn't have to match your faction. But your Shard Points go where you pledged.
How do I earn Shard Points at a convention?
The same way you earn them anywhere — play games. Convention events will have a QR check-in just like store events. Some conventions run special events with bonus Shard Points, so keep an eye on the events calendar.
What happens to my points at the end of the season?
Each Faction's Shard Points reset when the new season starts, but you keep yours as a player until you spend them!
Is there an entry fee for events?
That's up to each event organizer and store. Some events are free, some have a small entry fee. Check with your local store for details. We don't set the prices — we just make the game.
Can I play online and still earn Shard Points?
Yes. Official online events count toward your Shard Points and faction standing. Check the events page for upcoming online tournaments. Pants optional. Webcam also optional. Winning is not optional. (Okay, it's optional.)
I have a question that isn't here.
Hit us up on Discord. We're in there. We answer things. Sometimes we're even helpful.
